Veteran German defender Mats Hummels could leave Roma football in the January transfer window after a poor start to Serie A.

The 35-year-old centre-back was replaced by coach Ivan Juric for Paulo Dybala in the 67th minute. Just two minutes after defender Mario Hermeso was sent off. Before Hummels convert the final own goal of the game at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in the 71st minute.
Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has reported that. Hummels could leave Roma as early as January, having only sign a free transfer with the Giallorossi in early September after his contract with Borussia Dortmund expired.

It is speculated that Hummels may not be able to adapt to playing in Serie A, having play in the Bundesliga his entire career. Or it may be because of his age. Which makes him unable to keep up with the fast-paced games of Italian football.
